Made in Ireland and introduced to Waterford's Wedding Heirloom collection in 2005, this two-piece set is designed especially to cut and serve the wedding cake. Both the knife and the server feature fluted crystal handles that end in the collection's swan-heart motif. The long serrated blade of the 14-inch knife and the smooth triangular blade of the 12-1/2-inch server are made of brightly polished metal. Each handle is large enough to be held by the bride's hand overlaid by the groom's, according to tradition.

Waterford's Wedding Heirloom collection contains a wealth of exclusive crystal gifts to celebrate a union, including picture frames and toasting flutes. The cake serving set comes handsomely packaged inside a white moir box embossed with silver lettering and the Waterford seahorse. A gift card and care card are thoughtfully enclosed. As with all fine crystal, each heirloom-quality piece should be washed by hand, rather than in a dishwasher which can dull the crystal's clarity and brilliance. --Ann Bieri
